UNDER CANVAS ANNOUNCES NEW CAMP OPENING NEAR BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK
The Upscale, Outdoor Hospitality Company is Now Accepting 2022 Reservations for its Newest Location in Southwestern Utah
BOZEMAN, Mont. (August 17, 2021) – Today, Under Canvas announces its newest camp location, Under Canvas Bryce Canyon in Southwest Utah, set to open for its inaugural season on June 2, 2022. Located on 750 acres of beautiful and secluded high mountain plains, Under Canvas Bryce Canyon boasts expansive views of Mt. Dutton to the west and the Escalante Mountains to the east as well as proximate access to Bryce Canyon National Park. As domestic road-trip travel and outdoor experiences remain top of mind, this new camp is ideally positioned to provide unparalleled access to Utah’s national parks and landscapes—only 15 minutes from Bryce Canyon National Park and another addition to the upscale outdoor hospitality brand’s Grand Circle locations for the ultimate road-trip adventure.
“With access to the outdoors more in demand than ever, the launch of our fourth camp in Utah – in a high alpine area offering ideal temperatures for outdoor adventure throughout the spring, summer, and fall – couldn’t be more exciting and timely,” said Matt Gaghen, chief executive officer of Under Canvas. “The Bryce Canyon area is known for exceptional hiking and biking, beautiful landscapes, ready access to multiple national parks and monuments, and is a natural addition to our Grand Circle of camps.”
Under Canvas Bryce Canyon will offer 50 safari-style canvas tents on elevated decks with private ensuite bathrooms surrounded by a juniper forest, at 7,600 feet in elevation, with incredible valley views as far as the eye can see. The new camp is conveniently located near the area’s famed crimson-colored hoodoos and Dixie National Forestland, and is central to multiple national parks and monuments. Under Canvas Bryce Canyon will be solar powered and equipped with upscale amenities including West Elm furnishings, outdoor dining paired with culinary innovation, complimentary camp programming, adventure programming, and access to premium brand partnerships such as activewear options from lululemon, Sun Bum sun products, and even Pendleton® pooch products so all family members can sleep under the stars in comfort and style. To showcase its distinctive landscape, the new camp will center around a lobby lounge tent and expansive outdoor patio, featuring locally infused food and beverage concepts along with fire-pits and all the fixings for nightly s’mores.
With the opening of its fourth Utah camp, Under Canvas now provides travelers the ability to embark on a one-of-a-kind road trip adventure between all five sister camps—Grand Canyon, Moab, Zion, Lake Powell-Grand Staircase, and Bryce Canyon. Additionally, travelers looking to stay at one of the brand’s locations can experience “best of” adventures in and around the respective national parks and monuments by booking ahead with an Under Canvas Adventure Concierge.
Naturally designed for spatial distancing, each Under Canvas location is made up of safari-inspired canvas lodging tents which are furnished with plush king size beds, luxe linens, USB charging packs, bedside lanterns and a wood burning stove. Unique lodging tent accommodations feature the Stargazer Tent, complete with its own viewing window above the king bed to stargaze at night, ensuite bathroom (hot shower, sink and flushing toilet), wood stove and private deck with unmatched views. Ideal for families or groups and exclusive to this new location, the Hoodoo Suite Tent features two tents adjoined by a private deck, with its own private firepit and outdoor area for the ultimate getaway. Including a Suite Tent with a bedroom wing outfitted with a king bed, lounge area with a queen size sofa-bed, ensuite bathroom, wood stove and private deck, and additional deluxe tent with three twin beds and ensuite bathroom.
A cornerstone of the Under Canvas experience is the brand’s mindful approach. This includes pull chain showers, low flow toilets, rechargeable battery pack charging in tents, solar energy use when possible and a towel reuse program that all work to minimize energy use. Under Canvas camps are designed to minimize disturbance and maximize open space, each with dedicated, undisturbed green spaces. The camps are designed to flow with the natural topography of the land to eliminate unnecessary earthwork. Land donations with local conservation-based organizations, like Maine’s Shaw Institute, are part of the brand’s commitment, as well as its efforts to minimize the overall environmental footprint in the areas of water use and lighting to preserve the night sky.
Since opening the first camp nine years ago near West Yellowstone, Under Canvas has dedicated itself to inspiring connections with extraordinary places, people, and the planet by enhancing access to the outdoors. The inaugural season for the Bryce Canyon camp is June 2 – September 26, 2022, with its regular season running May through September.
