Back with our wholesome Outside Together series which speaks to our beliefs that nature is the best architect and unique experiences strengthen relationships—we’re sharing memories of an enchanting getaway to Under Canvas Acadia, our very first Northeastern and waterfront location!
Joining us is Laura Jung, also @laurajung on Instagram—a Korean-American content creator and entrepreneur based between New York City and Seoul. After not seeing her sister all year due to international travel difficulties, the two came together for a restorative getaway filled with bonding time in nature. A lover of immersing herself in nature any chance she gets, Laura raved about her experience with Under Canvas, as well as the incredible outdoor and culinary adventures to be had in the surrounding area!
It was a joy to experience this special sister trip through Laura ‘s eyes and we’re so excited to share some more about their Under Canvas Acadia getaway! Read on:
1. Tell us what #OutsideTogether means to you…
To me, Outside Together means collectively enjoying Mother Nature with our co-habitants, whether that’s other travelers and citizens of the world or with the animals and wildlife that inhabit the outdoors. I loved visiting Acadia and knowing every other person there made the conscious decision to be there with their chosen people. There was something so joyous about us all in that one place, experiencing it in our own special ways. There is so much beauty in knowing that despite our differences, we can all come together and appreciate what the world has to offer.
2. What was your favorite part about Under Canvas Acadia?
I loved how wholesome the whole vibe was.
3. Any must-sees/must-dos in the area?
Obviously Acadia National Park…We loved having breakfast at Jordan’s in Bar Harbor. The blueberry pancakes are out of this world! Our favorite lobster roll was Charlotte’s Lobster Pound! And fresh, hot popovers at The Stadium in Bar Harbor with maple butter and blueberry jam—it was insane!!!
4. Hiking or yoga? Sunrise or sunset?
Hiking. Sunrise.
5. Top 3 things to pack for a stay with Under Canvas?
Wool socks! I wore my Darn Tough socks everyday and they kept my feet cool, warm, supported throughout the many activities we did. Windbreaker/Rain Jacket. You never know with this fickle New England weather…Bug Spray because no one wants to leave the trip itching in pain—haha!
6. Which Under Canvas location would you choose next, and why?
I’d love to go out west to Zion and Bryce Canyon because I’ve never been to the American Southwest and the landscape is just so quintessential USA and rugged. But also, the Smoky Mountains are calling my name! I love dense forests, trees, and soil.
We are looking forward to having you again Laura! Follow along with us on Instagram for more of our #OutsideTogether series and subscribe to our newsletter for updates on everything to come at Under Canvas.
